Blogging is not easy money. Plain and simple…it’s running a business. At first, this blogging landscape was incredibly intimidating to me. I had so many questions! Here were some of mine and my answers:
Where do I set up my blog?
If there is any future possibility of turning your blog into an income source, then you want to self host and buy a web domain. That means your web address will be www.(your blog).com. First, you need a hosting service. I’ve been using Blue Host for the past year and I am very satisfied. They are inexpensive and have great customer service.
Simply visit BlueHost.com, sign up for a hosting plan and they will walk you through the steps. Blue Host will even help install Word Press (the free software you will use to manage your blog) and help you purchase a domain name.
How do I keep up with Social Media?
Publishing a post is one task. Promoting it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google Plus takes extra work. I started using Co-schedule in April and it has changed the way I promote my posts on social media. In one pretty package, its an editorial calendar for both my blog and all of my social media.
How do I get more people to look at my blog and make money?
Building a blog is different for everyone depending on your niche and ultimate goals. If you want to know how I’m doing it, I break it down each month with my traffic and income reports. (PV = Page views)
