Podcast Episode 294: Do Enneagrams Help You Parent Better? Harnessing Enneagram Insights for Resilience and Growth with Beth McCord
In a world full of people searching for meaning and connection; many are comforted by the existence of horoscopes and personality quizzes.
And I’ll admit…I’m one of those people.
Then there are professionals who compile information about humans to determine and explain the code of our behavior. So if you’ve never heard of the Enneagram, you know that it’s an attempt to bring both systems together. The Enneagram is a set of nine basic personality types. They are assigned to people based on their responses to questions about philosophy, lifestyle, and reactions to a wide range of scenarios and prompts.
Let’s be honest…parenting is less about “cherished moments” and more about finding ways to get through the day without losing your sanity. This is where the Enneagram comes in handy. It’s not just a tool for deep introspection on a Sunday morning (though, if you have time for that, we’re jealous). It’s practical, like a Swiss Army knife for your emotions.
Whether you’re navigating your kid’s latest existential crisis (“Why can’t I eat chocolate for breakfast every day?”) or trying to figure out why you lose it every time someone leaves their dirty socks in the living room, the Enneagram can give you insights into your stress points and how to manage them. Spoiler: it’s less about being a “perfect parent” and more about being a present one.
In our latest podcast episode, we’re diving headfirst into the world of Enneagrams with our guest Beth McCord. Beth is the founder of Your Enneagram Coach, and her recent book, The Enneagram for Moms: See the True Colors of Yourself and Your Children as God Intends helps moms gain valuable tools and insight by harnessing their enneagram type in parenting.
So join us as we break down the Enneagram, laugh at our parenting fails, and find out if understanding your type can really make you a better parent—or at least a more self-aware one. After all, isn’t that half the battle?
In this episode of the No Guilt Mom podcast you’ll learn:
- How the Enneagram stands out by focusing on the ‘why’ behind our actions, not just the ‘what’.
- From parenting strategies to interpersonal relationships, learn how the Enneagram can be a practical tool in everyday life.
- While your basic type stays the same, how you express it can shift depending on your health level (healthy, average, unhealthy).
- How the Enneagram isn’t about boxing your kids into types but rather understanding your own motivations to better guide and support them.
