Podcast Episode 272: How Mom Guilt is Hurting Us In Motherhood with Renee Reina, PhD
Ah, mom guilt (and comparison to other moms). They’re those sneaky little gremlins that seem to pop up whenever you’re about to enjoy a moment of peace. You’ve just sat down with a cup of coffee, ready to bask in five glorious minutes of quiet, and…
BAM! There they are, whispering in your ear, “Shouldn’t you be doing something more productive?” We’ve all been there, caught in the web of mom guilt and comparing ourselves to everyone else.
Welcome to the social media era, where everyone’s life looks perfect. Instagram feeds are filled with moms who seem to have it all together—immaculate homes, gourmet lunches, and kids who always look like they stepped out of a Gap commercial.
It’s hard not to compare yourself and feel like you’re falling short.
The pressure to be the perfect mom is immense. Society tells us we should be nurturing, patient, always present, and preferably, making homemade organic snacks from scratch. Anything less, and you might feel like you’re failing.
Comparison and desperation are real, and they’re particularly damaging to moms.
In this podcast episode we’re joined by Renee Reina, PhD is the host & creator of The Mom Room Podcast and she is changing the narrative around what it means to be a mom. We’re going to dive into the origins of this guilt, how we can kick it to the curb, and finally enjoy the beautiful chaos of motherhood!
