Kid Crafted Plates
Use these simple Kid Crafted Plates as gifts for grandparents, party hostesses or even give the craft items to another kiddo to create their own plate!
“This is a really fun activity mom!”
That was the response I got from my kiddos after completing our plate craft. I was BEAMING as my kiddos ran to the table to eat off their plates.
Supplies:
Oil Based Sharpies (We purchased Sharpie Paint Marker Fine Point Oil Based All 15 Color Set – FREE COLOR WHEEL (Affiliate link) from Amazon)
White plates ($1.00 a piece at Dollar Tree)
Oven
First, cover your table with newspaper (I did NOT do this but wish I had). Then, preheat the oven to 350 degrees while your children create their masterpieces. Let your kiddos go wild! But watch the littles, they like to eat the markers!
When your kiddos are happy with their art work, place your plates on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes. After, let them cool IN THE OVEN. I baked three plates so the whole process of baking and cooling took about three hours. BE CAREFUL when removing the plates from the oven if they are still hot.
Enjoy the memories made together! Your kiddos will love gifting their plates and be so proud of their accomplishment (and you can be a proud Mama!)

Okay, so i’m guessing the oil based sharpie is different that regular sharpie? How are they holding up so far?
Yes, Tausha! The oil based Sharpies are like paint markers. I put in a link to the ones we bought from Amazon to make things easy 🙂 The plates are looking great! Megan found that the secret is to let them cool in the oven after baking.
Did you have to seal these with anything after baking and cooling?
