How I made $1,741 in September
Blog Income in September
Ad Revenue 355.76
Affiliate Income 62.75
Product 42.50
Sponsored Posts 1,280.00
Total: 1,741.25
September was definitely not my highest month.
My ad income connects directly to my traffic, so I expected that to go down. However, that’s the only amount that saw a decrease. The ONLY ONE!
My sponsored posts are still my main source of income. But, I am selling a product now! Whoo hoo!! That $42.50 was from one stylebook last month.
Another product is in the works. I launched my first e-course as a beta test last week! It’s huge for me! I hope to have it available to everyone at the beginning of December. So while my income is down this month, I have more excitement planned.
Blog Expenses in September
Not as excited to share these, but let’s break these down.
Advertising 43.99
Facebook ads I ran to promote my webinar at the beginning of September. I use the webinar to sell my product: Stylebooks. Usually, I sell 1-2 books per webinar so I’ve put this on hold for right now. I’m not seeing enough return for the cost and effort.
Bank Charges 3.10
No idea why they charged me $3.10. It should only be $2.00. Need to call the bank…
Dues & Subscriptions 2,000.00
This was the big one!! I did something crazy and exciting. I joined my first Mastermind group!
If you’ve been reading my income reports for a while, you already know that I enrolled in Elite Blog Academy in Spring 2015. It was the best decision I made to grow my blog. If you are not on the waiting list to join Elite Blog Academy, GO NOW! Enrollment only opens once per year. And don’t worry, you will not spending anywhere near what I’m spending for my Mastermind.
My mastermind is the next step after Elite Blog Academy and It’s run by the same amazing person, Ruth Soukop of Living Well Spending Less. We’ve only just started and the other bloggers in this group completely inspire me! I feel like a small fish in a big pond, but seeing where their success reminds me of my potential. It’s exactly what I need to grow this blog.

Office Expenses 10.78
Quickbooks Online 🙂 Makes these income reports a breeze!
Other General and Admin Expenses 0.24
Venmo needed to verify my account.
Subcontractors 131.00
I have an amazing assistant now! (Hi Clarcy!) She does all my Pinterest pinning. Having her on board frees up so much of my brain space.
This month, I also paid a designer on Fiverr to create 6 new pin images for my most popular posts. It’s a test, but so far I don’t see much of a difference between his images and mine.
Tools 286.11
Everything I pay for to keep the blog running. This includes Adobe Photoshop, Sucuri Security (goodbye hackers!), Canva for Work and Teachable.com. Many of these require upfront payment for 6 months or more, and this month I renewed quite a few service.
Travel -379.13
My roommate reimbursed me for half the room at BlogHer. I finally transferred the money from Venmo.
Travel Meals 25.00
Various meals for meetings and when I’m out doing stuff for the blog.
Total Expenses: 2,121.09
Yes, I spent more than I made this month but since most of that is the Mastermind group, I am not concerned with that number.
Now What?
Coming up this month:
- I’ll finish creating my beta course.
- I’m working on a new opt-in for people on my blogger mailing list that will be all about how to build your own email list. You need an email list! I’ll send it to my current list when I’m finished so you should go sign up for my blogger e-mail list now!
You’ll get my tips for Sponsored posts when you sign up. - Focus on an affiliate plan to improve my affiliate sales
Now, what questions do you have? I’m an open book and I will reply to everyone. I can’t wait to hear from you!
