The Secret Life of Pets Craft: Cup Pals
This Secret Life of Pets craft is a perfect morning activity before you see the movie!
Do you remember the very first movie you took your kids, too?
Not only was it fantastic, seeing his or her joy and awe, but it also meant restoring a little bit of normalcy.
When your toddler is finally old enough to sit through a movie, that is one more possibility for a family activity. One more thing to do on a hot summer afternoon.
My son is now almost 3 and we’ve been to two movies in theatre – both which he fell asleep during.
However, one movie we’ve been super excited to take both of our kids to is The Secret Life of Pets. We knew our three year old would like it the minute we saw the first preview earlier this year. The moment when the poodle turns on the stereo and starts headbanging, he burst into loud laughs.
Same with the dachshund giving himself a massage under the stand mixer.
This movie will be a blast!!
To celebrate its release, the kids and I made little cup pals to hold their cereal in the morning. I’ll give you those instructions and a download for the faces further down.
Before you do anything else, grab this coupon for Cheerios and bring it with you on your next shopping trip.
Cereal is HUGE in our house. My son comes over to our room at 5:30am most mornings. He wedges himself in between my husband and I and tells me, “I’m hungry.”
I sigh and trudge down the stairs. I bring him back a little bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, turn on a show, and cuddle in close for another 30 minutes of sleep.
Because as parents, don’t we always need a little more sleep?!?
Honey Nut Cheerios is also my kids favorite afternoon snack. I love that they are made with real honey and whole grain oats listed as the very first ingredient. Plus, Honey Nut Cheerios, Multi-grain Cheerios and Regular Cheerios are now all gluten-free.
To celebrate The Secret Life of Pets, every box of Cheerios will have a free in-pack Secret Life of Pets collectible toy. There are 6 collectible toys in all.
“A toy! In cereal!?! No way!”. my daughter exclaimed as she opened the box.
Obviously, we deprive her.
Her reaction at discovering which character she got was priceless!
“I wanted her!!! I wanted her!!”

Making The Secret Life of Pets Craft
Before you go see The Secret Life of Pets opening on July 8th, make these easy Cup Pals. You can eat your Cheerios from them in the morning before you go (Have you grabbed your coupon for Cheerios yet?). They also work pretty spectacularly for popcorn.
I’ve made it all super easy for you.
You’ll need:
- plastic cups
- scissors
- glue
- scotch tape
- card stock
- colored pencils/ crayons
- Character faces inspired by The Secret Life of Pets that I’ve drawn for you!
That’s it.
Print out the faces inspired by The Secret Life of Pets movie and let your kids color them. I preferred printing them on card stock, but typical printer paper works fine.
Then cut them out and paste them to the cup. I used a little bit of scotch tape for the ear pieces that stick above the cup rim.
Let me know when you plan on seeing The Secret Life of Pets! And remember to get your coupon for Cheerios!
